Stephanie Shostak holds her birth certificate Wednesday in her Edmonton home. Shostak is one of nearly 300 Albertans that have changed the gender marker on their birth certificate since a court decision forced Alberta to change the rules two years ago.
Stephanie Shostak considered leaving her career as a top volleyball official when she came out as trans. The welcoming messages she got from Volleyball Canada and US Volleyball assured her she could be out in sports.
